Yoga: Union With Bliss Through Meditation

Paramahansa Yogananda was chosen by his venerable line of gurus to bring the Kriya Yoga to the West and disseminate it worldwide. For this purpose he established Self-Realization Fellowship in 1920.

Central to the Kriya Yoga path is the daily practice of the meditation techniques taught by Paramahansa Yogananda in the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons.

The sacred science of Kriya Yoga contains the distilled essence of Raja Yoga.

“Divine Joy outlasts everything,” Paramahansaji said. “It is enduring. When all else melts away, that Joy remains.” As we start to discover this everlasting joy by practicing the techniques of meditation, we also learn to hold onto that joy during daily life, so that it enlivens and animates all our other activities.

SRF Lessons

The Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons were compiled under the guidance of Paramahansa Yogananda from his writings and from his numerous talks and lectures.

In addition to his detailed instructions on meditation, the teachings offer practical advice on all aspects of spiritual life - to live joyfully and successfully in this world of change amidst ever-changing challenges and opportunities.

“We have an urge for something higher; we don’t know what it is. But it is an urge for happiness and joy—happiness that lies within us. We cannot find it until we discover it within the soul.” Rajarsi Janakananda, second president of SRF/YSS
